Jeremy Geddes Tribute
Triptych Poster Series
–
Description:
Jeremy Geddes is a New Zealander painter that is most well known for his series of surreal paintings of cosmonauts falling, colliding, and drifting through abstracted spaces. Although there are specific motifs in his paintings, Geddes tries to avoid attaching a specific narrative to his paintings and rather leave them open to interpretation - which allows the viewers to make a connection between disparate elements and create a structure that resonates with each of them personally.
My concept was to focus on the idea of "Oblique Narratives" that Geddes tries to achieve in his paintings. I achieved this idea by utilizing large graphic bars that continues through all three posters. These graphic shapes represents blinds of a window where it allows the viewer to see through it and see what's to come without giving away too much information.

Do Not Go Gentle Into That GoodNight
Poster Design
–
Description:
Dylan Thomas' poem: "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Goodnight" was written for his dying father on his deathbed. The essence of the poem is the struggle to survive and pressing on to live as long as you can in the face of death, even if it means suffering. The struggle against death is referred as "the dying of the light". He wrote this poem for everyone to encourage them to --"rage"-- for more life.
The objective of this project was to create a thought provoking poster that captures the message of the poem. The poster introduces two figures reaching for a dying light. A race between life and death.

Monocle Cover Redesign
Magazine Cover
–
Description:
Monocle Magazine, launched in 2007, produces 10 issues a year with briefs on global affairs, business culture, and design. The magazine itself has beautiful page layouts and great design, but the cover design was lacking.
Wanting to preserve Monocle's premium feel, I wanted to minimize the cover design but separating the large amount of information onto a detachable sleeve, and keeping the cover page photo driven so that it does not overshadow the content on the inside.
